Karlsruhe Dialogues in the 300. anniversary year of Karlsruhe "The nation-states failed", whether climate change, or democracy or dept crisis: According to Benjamin R. Barber every country will founder on nearly all of the problems of the 21. century. International political organizations did not manage to put societies on track of democracy, says Prof. Benjamin Barber in his ceremonial address at the 19.  Karlsruhe Dialogues, which started on 27. February.

Romeo and Julia - About love and desire

"Romeo and Juliet" is one of the most famous love stories of world literature. The reason for the broadcast is the current production of the play 'Juliet and Romeo' with the students of the Herbert-Hoover-School in Berlin. William Shakespeare's tragedy published in 1597 serves as the prototype. In the program presented in three languages we talk about the desire for the forbidden, the arranged marriage, free love and the parts of the young actors. Our studio guests are Naval and Mohammed.

Sounds from Bucharest

theakopieeinsThe Ion C. Brătianu Avenue is one of the main routes in the city, leading to the University Square (Piața Universitații). This is one of the places where people demonstrated for freedom in December 1989.
Even nowadays, the University Square is the meeting place for people who want to make their voices heard. Along the avenue there are small shops and backeries where people in a hurry can buy a snack.

Comic and satire

At present the magazine 'Charlie Hebdo' is the center of attention. Art, culture and politics belong together as the latest occurrences in Paris show. That is the reason why our current live radio broadcast of YCBS on 88.4 is about comic, political satire and caricature.
"Comic, satire and caricature are cousins.", says Emmanuel Murzeau. He draws comics and compares the genre comic and it's traditions of Germany and France. The native Frenchman lives in Berlin since 20 years. He still feels love to the comic and brings it close to his readers and students, too.

Reporter from the street:

"Now I’m on the main avenue of the city and I am going to walk from one subway station to another, it’s about 400meter’s walk. I’m sure you see these people, beggars’ every day. I think we should remind our government and society about the people in the streets.

No borders generation

"No borders generation" wants to tell stories about people who are living with different languages and cultures. Nicolo, Max and Ezio are from Italy. Nicolo is half Slovenian and half Italian, he is growing up in the border city of Gorizia-Nova Gorica, which were divided during the World War II in two parts: One part of the city belongs to Slovenia, the other to Italy. Max comes from Udine, also a multilingual city, near the border of Slovenia and Austria. Max is the author of the radio features "No borders generation".
